What Are The Ways To Grind Grain?

The organic way of life is becoming more and more popular amongst the masses across the globe. The people are becoming aware of the nutrition that they lose through processed food; the amount of suffering that sedentary lives can bring them and even the amount of damage that pollution can do to their biological systems. Consequently, gradually, people are moving towards the natural way of living and have started to aim for holistic living. One of the aspects that this shift is occurring is through the increasing instances of people grinding their own grains, beans and even coffee. However, the movement has not become so popular that everyone knows how to grind grains. More often than not, a person needs to understand the ins and outs of grinding grain before switching to doing it himself from the conventional more harmful activity of buying processed food. There are many ways to grind grains. The following are some.

  1. The Mortar And The Pestle:This is the oldest and the most natural way to grind grains. This requires extensive preparation of grains and a lot of physical effort. Most people, even though they wish to, cannot afford to devote so much time and effort on something as simple as grinding grains.
  2. The Blender:
Grain can be ground in an average home blender as well. However, the user should ensure that his blender is powerful enough to handle the grinding of grains. If the blender starts getting stuck then the reduction in the grain load may help.
  3. Grain mills:
The best of both worlds i.e. technology and natural nutrients can only be achieved by making a compromise at some level. Grain mills are available in the market for people who are interested in grinding their own grain but do not wish to go back to prehistoric times of mortar and pestle. These grains mills vary on the basis of their capacity, quality and most importantly their source of power. In terms of energy source, grains mills based on electricity, batteries and hand power can be found in the market easily. The hand powered grain mills are the best option primarily because they not only keep the nutrition in the flour but also provide an outlet for the user to exercise.

The grinding of grain mills naturally should be preferred over automated devices as this would be the most advantageous method. However, the demands of the civilized world also need to be taken into consideration. Hence, a hand powered grain mill is the ideal choice for a housewife.
